I hope you’ve enjoyed reading our 6 part seller series thus far. This final edition of the series goes over what to do when the time finally comes to move out.
Moving is just as exciting as it is stressful. Your Orlando Realtor should be able to ease the stress by providing you with some insight on how to make the move go smoothly and stress-free as possible. Here are some tips that will help you get ready for moving day.
You can choose to do the work yourself by renting a moving truck and enlisting the help of friends and family, or you can hire a professional moving company to do all the heavy lifting for you. Ask your real estate agent to provide you with a list of their preferred vendors.
Whether you decide to hire a moving company or not, you should be ready with all the necessary materials for packing. Things you will need include boxes, tape, and lots of packing material for breakable items.
Don’t wait until moving day to start packing boxes! Everything that goes in boxes, should already be in boxes on moving day. This is also a great time to get rid of unwanted items that you can sell, donate or throw away.
Mark each box with a permanent marker so you know exactly what’s inside when you get to your new home. It’s a good idea to write “fragile” on boxes containing breakables, especially if you’re using a moving company. Whether you hire a moving company or not, make sure that you’re there to supervise the move because no one will care about your stuff more than you do.
If you decide on moving yourself, you’ll have to rent a truck. Don’t pick the first company you find. You should shop around to compare which company has the best rates. Sometimes you can get better rates during the week as opposed to the weekends.
Another alternative to using a moving truck is a portable storage unit. Once you’ve packed all your belongings inside of it, the company will move the unit to your new home.
